In recent years, bitcoin mining has been billed as energy-intensive, with U.S. bitcoin miners gobbling up the same amount of energy as the entire state of Utah. Despite the high energy footprint, however, some miners are exploring whether energy bills can, in fact, be lowered. During a recent discussion, Roundtable anchor Rob Nelson reminisced about the early days of crypto, when enthusiasts could mine bitcoin on their personal computers. He posed the question: "Will we loop back around to where my iPhone will have the ability to do some bitcoin mining on the side?"
